Gwern y Mynach self catering holidays
When we purchased this farm in Mid-Wales we realised what a perfect place for a ' get away from it all ' holiday. Set at the foot of the Cambrian Mountains, the scenery is just breath taking. With direct access to forestry land, there is no need for any roadwork, but if you do venture onto the quiet peaceful lanes, then there is unlimited riding and walking. Having a pub ( the oldest pub in Powys) which serves excellent food, right at the end of the drive is an added bonus.
We can offer accommodation for walking ( well behaved dogs welcome) or ' bring your own horse', riding holidays.
Accommodation for our human visitors, is in our well equipped static caravan, which sleeps 3/4. One small double bedded room and one single room, plus an extra folding single bed if required. Bedding is supplied for the two beds, please bring your own for fourth bed, if required and your own towels. There is a good sized kitchen, with gas cooker, fridge, microwave etc, large sitting and dining area, with lovely views over the fields to the mountains beyond. The bathroom includes a shower.
There is an area of decking where you can sit and relax, enjoy the views and watch the Red Kites that often soar over the farm. There is a dog proof fence around caravan.
We provide a secure indoor kennel area for your dogs, if you need to leave them unattended, and should they get wet and muddy enjoying their walks, they can dry off before going back into the caravan. There is a utility room, in the farm buildings which provides, a toilet, drying facilities for wet clothes, ( this is Wales after all! ) and washing machines for human and animal laundry.
With direct access from our farm to forestry land, you can ride for miles without the need to go on any roads. However, should you venture onto the quiet back lanes, then many more miles of bridleways and off road riding is to be had. Horses need to be fairly fit as it is quite a climb from the farm into the hills and they need to be shod, as some of the wider forestry tracks are stony. Riding varies from steep hill tracks, narrower softer paths, streams to cross and paddle in etc, but wherever you go the views will be breathtaking. If you want fast gallops, then this is not the place for you, however, if you want peaceful riding with stunning scenery and the odd canter, this is it!
We are also very handy for the Royal Welsh Show ground at Builth Wells
Dog accommodation.
Small/medium well behaved dogs are very welcome to stay with you in the caravan. Please do not allow them on the chairs or beds, or leave them unaccompanied if you go out. The area around the caravan is fenced for dogs. We provide a large indoor dog pen, so that wet and dirty dogs have somewhere to go until clean and dry.
This is a working farm and this is sheep country, so please keep all dogs under full control when out and about.
